Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if I could get your advice on something: I'm planning on getting an SLR, and am stuck on the good old fashioned canon vs nikon dilemma. As a nikon user, how do you find their cameras? I'm leaning towards their d5000 model, which looks really good for my purposes ...but despite what the specs and reviews say I can't help but notice that canon pictures usually look slightly sharper and the colours more rich. It's hard to tell though, because that kind of thing also heavily depends on photographer skill and post-processing too, so it's probably just my brain making things more difficult for myself.
So anyway, I was wondering if you could share any thoughts regarding your experiences with Nikon cameras, or whatever else you think might be useful to my noobie self.
Any help would be much appreciated. I suck at making decisions
Thanks

But I have a pathetic excuse! I had exam week last week!
Hmmm....What to say, what to say. I really am not an expert with cameras and I haven't even touched a Canon, so I cannot compare them at all. All I can say is that I'm very happy with my Nikon D40x, it's simple but has lots of nice things, and it's not tooo fancy for me. I cannot say anything about whether they're sharper or not.
Just because I am a Nikon-user, I'd say get a Nikon, but I think it would be better if you got a more professional opinion. Or at least an opinion from someone who has more experience with both Canon and Nikon, as my experience is rather one-sided and actually limited to one model. xD
Good luck with it! Let me know what you pick! And I will write a you a longer message/e-mail/whatever, soon. (: A Christmas one!

Sorry for the convenience .
I hope you did well in your exam/s! I know how ridiculously busy exam season gets, so no worries at all. My goodness, almost a week until Christmas and I have not bought anyone anything! Haha, I am getting less and less organised by the year.
Take care and have fun!
